VIBES PUTS A NEW SPIN ON

ART WALKS

After attending many art walks around the country, Patrice Douglas, former Edmond mayor was inspired to bring her favorite components to Edmond, OK. She took the initiative to form a committee of city leaders, business representatives and art enthusiasts to make her vision a reality. In the midst of an unprecedented 2020…VIBES was created!

On the first Thursday of each month beginning in the spring, continuing through the summer and into the fall (April -October) , downtown Edmond is bustling with unique local artists sharing their talents, selling their art and performing for a community that is eager to support them.

This collaboration with local businesses is facilitated by the Edmond Fine Arts Institute, a 501c3 art nonprofit located in heart of downtown Edmond, at 27 East Edwards. Each month highlights a variety of creative talent, delicious eats and local shopping experiences between 6:00-9:00 p.m. on first Thursday’s. VIBES is supported by the city of Edmond, downtown Edmond business association (DEBA) and dedicated sponsors with the likeminded passion to continue advancing Edmond as the premier arts and cultural destination in Oklahoma.

VIBES supports downtown businesses while creating a family friendly art hub in central Oklahoma during its seven month season. The Edmond Fine Arts Institute’s 35-year history, relationship with artists statewide and partnerships in downtown Edmond makes it the perfect organization to oversee this project. Each month businesses are paired with local visual and/or performing artists. The featured artists are “housed” in the participating businesses during the event. VIBES functions as a come and go art walk with a new twist. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy the art, listen to performing artists, patronize businesses, dine at local restaurants and take part in interactive art while enjoying time with family and friends.
